Why Do You Need an Ohmic Ring?
The ohmic ring enables unshielded consumables to utilize ohmic height sensing.
The ohmic ring makes contact with the nozzle of the torch and is then connected via a wire to the ohmic sensing module. This sends a signal to the THC, instructing it to halt movement on the Z-axis.
This allows for more precision when determining cutting height and initial pierce height, resulting in more accurate settings and greater cut quality.
Benefits of Ohmic Sensing
Ohmic sensing allows you to determine the pierce and cut height much more accurately than the standard floating head style of height sensing, enabling much greater cut quality more frequently, and with less trial and error.
This also eliminates the possibility of deflection from the torch pushing down into the material, and reduces the chance that the material will move from the torch making contact with it.
If the material experiences deflection then it could result in improper height sensing, which then would result in incorrect pierce and cut height.
